The Bluestones bio

In November of 1997, Renegade newsletter described The Bluestones as “truly inspirational and fun to watch.  A perfect match for a late night show or a private velvet room.  You can have just as much fun watching them perform as you could dancing….”

When considering The Bluestones’ background, this quotation is hardly surprising.  In 1995, they opened for Koko Taylor, the “Queen of Chicago Blues,” at Kent State University.  The Bluestones recorded their first CD, Live at Northside, in June of 1996.  The CD picked up solid reviews from the local press, and received substantial airplay on WCPN, 90.3 FM Cleveland.

February 1997, found The Bluestones playing in front of thousands at the NBA All-Star basketball party at Tower City  in Cleveland.

Their popularity increased and in April of 1999 The Bluestones hired on as house band for Fat Fish Blue in downtown Cleveland.  While working for this noted blues club, The Bluestones opened for national acts and had the honor of performing at Robert Jr. Lockwood’s 85th birthday.

This year, The Bluestones released their second CD, The Outskirts of Town.  Half of the album was recorded live at the Savannah Bar and Grille in Westlake and the rest at Moon Dog Studios in Kent, Ohio, home to the Bluestones.
